Covid-19 Statement

Shield Care Ltd is still in operation at this tough time. Our front-line staff are ready to care and support current and new customers, as we did before this epidemic. If you, a friend or a relative need our help, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Shield Care Ltd Covid-19 Policy

Our goal during this time is to protect our staff and customers remain as safe as they can, as our country fights this virus. To achieve this, we are introducing new procedures for the best of everyone’s interests. This may change as the state of the epidemic evolves.

We are asking that all our employees, whether they are at work or in their own homes, to follow the instructions we have given them - to keep them virus free, to avoid the spread to our customers.

Prevention is key as the virus is most contagious before the infected person is showing any symptoms, as well as a few days after. It is vital that NHS Guidance and our procedures are followed so that everyone involved is protected. Unfortunately, our customer base are those most at risk of becoming severely ill if they contract the virus and this is why guidelines and procedures must be followed.

If you experience the following symptoms you must self-isolate in your home for at least 7 days. Additionally, if someone you live with is showing symptoms, you will need to stay at home for 14 days, starting from the first day the first person showed any symptoms.

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Stay at home.

As government guidance states, everyone should be social distancing to avoid the spread of Covid-19. In addition to this it is important that people:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds

  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

  • wash your hands as soon as you get back home

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

In addition, we expect our staff to:

  • take your temperature at the start of day and only work if it is under 38 degrees.

  • always wear new disposable aprons and gloves when visiting a customer, and at the end of the visit dispose of the used PPE

  • wash uniforms daily to protect customers and families from cross contamination.

  • wipe down all used surfaces frequently using correct disinfecting solutions, especially in high use areas

Stay safe – we’re all in this together.
